 February Stockings by Blackbird Designs
Very
quick to stitch but not so quick to put together because I was dumb and
use their instructions for finishing. Whip stitching was probably
advised because you (obviously) don't need a sewing machine to do it
but I *do* have a sewing machine - that I know how to use - so I will
go that route for future stockings. Whipstitching is great for closing
up a stuffed pillow opening, etc. but not so cool for going around
curves on such a small item. Finicky, fussy, and annoying. Won't be
doing that again. :(
These turned out so cute though, so I
ordered the January, March, and April stocking booklets. We bought a 6
foot Xmas tree on a 60% off discount after Xmas last year so I need to
make some stuff to fill that in as the tree we've been using the last
7-8 years was only 3.5 feet high. LOTS OF ROOM to make up for. :)

Hope
everyone had a nice weekend. It was rainy and chilly here
Saturday/Sunday - kind of a bummer for all those grilling plans, etc.
We had people over for some GRILL TIME! on Sunday and it turned out to
be HEY LET'S HANG OUT INSIDE AND WATCH THE POURING RAIN TIME! instead.
lol (Yesterday was much nicer but we both worked. Bummer for us for not
enjoying it, I guess, because today is another chilly day and the
forecast for the week is chilly/rain until the weekend. *sigh*)
I
put one lonely new bead up in the Bead Shoppe just now: a Patriotic
Fairy. Someone requested this the other day when I did my update and I
thought it was such a cute idea that I whipped one up right away.
So....enjoy! :)

New
beadies are up! Little earlier than usual because I have some things to
do this afternoon. (So if I don't answer your email right away don't
worry - I'll be online tonight to straighten everything out. :)) Hope everyone has a fun & safe holiday weekend!
 May 21, 2009New
beads up tomorrow! About time, I know. I've been mostly concentrating
on doing custom orders lately. It's less work for me because I don't
need to do a lot of picture taking, uploading, etc. but even I was getting tired of looking at my last update so I finally buckled down this week and got some new stuff done. :)
May 18, 2009Waaaaah! Staycation is officially over today. Back to work. *sob* *not me in picture. :)
May 15, 2009Bees are busy little....mmmm....bees. Look how much comb they made since he put them in the hive on Monday: This was built up around the cage where the queen was. Busy, busy!
May 14, 2009I've
been mostly bored to tears this year watching AI and wondering why I'm
still watching but I do have to admit I got quite the thrill seeing
Gokey get voted off this week. Good
voice. Total Douchey McDouchebag. "ZOMG GUYS I'M SO BORED WITH ALL
THESE TV COMMERCIALS. WHEN DO WE GET TO THE PART WHERE I WIN?" *eye
roll*BET YOU REGRET THAT COMMENT NOW HUH, HOKEY-GOKEY?!
May 12, 2009This
is what you get when you order a hive's worth of bees. A big ole box o'
bees. Surprisingly, they didn't make as much noise as I thought they
would. (Though, even more surprisingly, my almost-completely-deaf cat
Maggie could hear them very well. Or at least it seemed liked it
because she was very drawn to them before she could even see them.
Could have been a smell thing too, I suppose, but she was giving me the
"OMG DO I HEAR SOMETHING???" spooked face. She gets a
little.....troubled and nervous when she manages to hear something.
lolol) Probably
no new beads this week unless a miracle happens and the 24-hour day
magically turns into a 36-day or something. Hubby is on vacation this
week and we are painting, doing a couple day trips, having company come
into town at the end of the week, etc. Not much time for beadmaking. :)
May 7, 2009I'm ready for Halloween this year with the addition of my newest pair of knitted socks: God I love Halloween colors. Fun! The name of this colorway is Hocus Pocus from Knitterly Things.
May 4, 2009Anyone want a glass of ice tea? :) Can't get these around here to save my life, at least not the sugar free kind, so I ordered, uhhhhh, a few for summer from Arizona directly. YUM! (The pomegranate one is my favorite of the three.)
May 1, 2009Whoa.
Is this year going by crazy fast or what? MAY??????? Am mostly
recovered from my awful headache the other day (which I'm blaming on
the blooming things/oak trees wreaking havoc with my sinuses). Tis the
season, I guess. Plugging along on custom orders - going to be a busy
busy weekend. Not that I mind. :) The hubby works on Saturday any way
and has been spending Sundays doing things for his mother so it keeps
me busy. Our 'weekend' is on Wednesday/Thursday on his other days off.
He made some frames for a couple small stitchery projects I finished
up in April and I got them painted/pinned the other day. I think they
came out pretty good. He was absolutely horrified that I took his
'perfect' frames and sanded the edges down and roughed them up to make
them look more primitive. Heheheheheh. What can I say? I like that look
better. :) Back to Articles |
