March 2010 ArchiveMarch 26, 2010
I don't want to talk about how we got even
MORE rain the last couple
days so.........moving on............ Okay. So if the wine
is the evil and the cork is the island.................what does that
make the bottle? HMMmmmmm. I guess it doesn't matter because
MiB/FLocke/Esau/Ole Smokey be smashing that shit soon anyway. lol
SEVEN
EPPIES LEFT TO GO!!! :)
(Side note: if I had a dollar for every 'I'M ON A HORSE' comment
I've seen on ONTD lost postings in regards to this episode this week, I
would be a
very rich person. And you know
what? I laugh every single time I see
one. Every.single.time. I
freaking LOVE that commercial. IT NEVER GETS
OLD.) Someone remind me
again that I'm on a yarn diet..........*cough*
supposedly........
Enh. What can I say? It was Fate. Wollmeise is
harder to come by
than gold chunks (SO NOT KIDDING) and I just *happened* to look at my
Facebooks *exactly* two seconds after Sheri at The Loopy Ewe announced
she had posted some so I went "oh" and got some. People camp out at
their computers for daysssssssssssss (STILL NOT KIDDING) hitting refresh
every 5 seconds for Wollmeise. People try for months and months to
score the Wollmeise and still come away empty-handed.*** I feel pretty
punchy that I had no clue 'bout nuttin' and haven't tried in at least a
year to get some and managed to snag three skeins. <-- That would be a
whole lot of me justifying the purchase(albeit in a truthful manner)
because, once again, the VERY LAST THING I need in this world is more
yarn. The sad part is, if this happened again just like this next month,
I would fall prey to it AGAIN. I'm never not going to buy the
Wollmeise if given the chance. Just saying. ***If
this seems strange, empty, and sad to you, I don't blame
you. It is rather odd.
But such is the power of Wollmeise. Skeins
sometimes go for $100+ on eBay for them. Forum fights are fought over
it. Certain areas of Ravelry are, right now, completely under water for
all the drooling going on over Wollmeise stash pictures. It just is
what it is. As long as Wollmeise basically equals one brave
german
soul doing her best to provide for the masses who love her stuff, it
will be this way.

Socks are finished!
I was going to finish them up on Sunday evening while watching the
House brou-ha-ha stuff but then I thought "Do I really want to bother
to finish them if the world is going to end tomorrow?". Probably not. A
pair of finished socks really wouldn't be that helpful as the
world was imploding in on itself. But then Monday came and went like
normal so I finished them last night instead. I feel kind of cheated
after all those hysterics about health care. I had popcorn at the ready
to watch the fireworks and stuff and turns out it was just boring ole
health care stuff after all. Hmph.
Side note: I half-jokingly declared myself a socialist last week on my
LJ after we got our taxes back from the tax lady. SWEET BABY JESUS
those Obama middle class tax cuts are sweeeeeeeeeeet. And and and and
the stimulus tax incentive we got for putting in all new windows on the
house last year was even better - it flat out paid for the WHOLE
shebang WITH some leftover. What is this? Someone paying ME to put in
thirteen new windows for FREE? LOVE YOU LONG TIME, FEDS! If socialism
is about not having leaky-ass wood windows that don't give me a hernia
every time I try to open them up AND not needing a ladder on the
OUTSIDE of the house to clean them, you may have won me over. lol (Yes,
I'm easy. What can I say? I really hated those freaking windows!) If
they want to throw $3,000 at me this year to put in a brand new
furnace, I'm a goner for sure. ;)
Anyhoo, I should be working on new beads this week. Maybe.
I haven't been doing any beads other than orders lately because my
basement/work area is swampy with the epic rainstorms of the past week.
It's been totally gross at times down there. Blech. I'm not complaining
too much because parts of the state were hit much harder and people
went w/o power for almost a whole week and/or had a ton of damage from
trees falling down. We're definitely going to have to rip the carpet
out now down there. Half of downstairs is tiled but, of course, that
part isn't swampy - it's mostly just the carpeted area. *sigh* So that
plus the fact that high humidity is the quickest way to ruin the sieve
beds in your oxygen concentrator has = not many beads coming out of me
in the last week. It was *almost* completely dried out and then another
pouring rain came in all day today. UGH!!!

Scarf Progress..
Slow,
slow, and slower yet. I'm on the third (and final) row which should be
the beginning of the end but I've decided it's not long enough so I'm
going to have to go back and add more spirals to rows 1 and 2. @#$@#$$#
I had to put this aside this week to do some mindless sock knitting just so I could feel like I was progressing on SOMETHING.

But aren't the colors pretty? It is neat to see how all the colors are coming together.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I
am part Irish and have to admit I'm doing.............bupkis for the
holiday. (Who says you can't use a little Yiddish when describing your
Irish activities?) I'm so over the boiled dinner thing but I do loves
me some corned beef. Sadly, I did not remember how much I love corned
beef until it was too late to plop one in the slow cooker for today
(still suffering from DST EPIC FAIL fever) so I'll plop it in tonight
before I go to bed. Then I will make some serious ass-kicking corned
beef hash tomorrow...............for brunch. (See: DST EPIC FAIL fever.

I suppose I should do a LOST
post since it's Post-Lost Wednesday but it was a little blah last
night. All's I got is Sayid being all YAWN, DON'T CARE while Crazy Claire does her crazy thing.

Let's hope Flash Forward has some good razzle dazzle on Thursday for me instead! March 14, 2010
Oh shoot, I forgot to do another EPIC Lost post on Wednesday, using
appropriately awesome macros. :( I've resigned myself to the fact that
every Tuesday night, from now until the end of May, I will be going to
bed with a LOST-sized headache/brain scramble. Anyhoo, if I HAD DONE a
macro post it would have contained this:
RUN, BEN, RUNNNNN!! I heart you so much, you dark and twisty soul. lol
Who buys more spices than I do? NO ONE, NO ONE!
LOOK AT ALL THAT. *drool* God, I love buying spices. Well, I love using them too - I'm not just HOARDING them or anything. I've been out of this, that, and the other since Xmas so I did a huge order earlier last week and it came on Friday.
OH HAPPY JOY! I've been without thyme for, like, two MONTHS. The
horror! Do you know how indispensable thyme is? ALMOST AS MUCH AS TIME.
I thought I would be smart this time and, instead of ordering
everything in 1oz glass bottles, I would order some 4oz bags instead so
I could get a few refills out of each one. Why not, right? The bags are
usually less than a dollar more and I don't NEED fresh bottles every
time. Well, to that I say: heeeeeeeee heeeeeeeeeeeeee hooooooooooooo
hooooooooooooo haaaaaa haa haha! Turns out that 4oz of basil (bag) is,
like, A LOT. A lot-a lot. I saw those big bags of basil and thyme and
started looking over my shoulder for FBI agents because it was like I
was dealing weed or something. THEM BAGS ARE BIG. Now I just have to
cook like a mad fiend to use it all up!

It was actually quite NICE out this weekend, in the 50's temp wise.
Dare I think that spring might be coming? I mean, the trees don't
finish 'filling in' with leaves until the end of May around here so
we're a long way off for springtime planting (early May) and grass
growing but it will be VERY NICE if the super cold temps and snow are
gone for good! The nicer temps were also good for figuring that the
bees STILL LIVE. THEY MADE IT THROUGH THE WINTER, GUYS! WOOOOoo!***
They were out in force this weekend and even coming back with
pollen-packed leggies. WTF? We have NO IDEA where or how far they are
going to get THAT seeing as there isn't a damn thing sprouting yet???
Only thing I could think of is maybe the nurseries in the area have
some stock out they are pilfering from? Only the bees know. But it's a
good sign that the queen is still doing her thing and making babies and
stuff.
***Admittedly, this excites me mostly
for the simple fact that 1) I don't have to listen to the hubby moaning
about dead bees because he gets a *wee* bit obsessed over their care
and 2) we don't have shell out $$$ for a new box of bees because bees?
NOT CHEAP to buy!

LOST OH NOES!
Man, when Ben looks at you like you are bat shit crazy - you are REALLY bat shit crazy! And Sayid killing Yoko and Lennon was like ?!@#$!@#$!@#$!@#$
Creepy Flocke walk? @Q#$!@#$!@#$!@#$!@#.
March 2, 2010Lots and LOTS of new stuff up in the Bead Shoppe today!!
Better late than never, I guess. February was just not a
good month for me re: new stuff. Just not that into it. Which is
allowable from time to time after EIGHT YEARS. Sometimes ya get bored
and that's that. (Side note: I clicked around to a bunch of 'old' bead
sites the other day, something I haven't done in a long
time..........maybe too long of a time because most of the ones I looked up were gone, gone, gone.
Poof! Disappeared. Not many of us 'old timers' left plugging away at
this thing, eh? I wonder all the time how I've made it this far
considering my short attention span. It is somewhat miraculous. I'm waiting for my sainthood from the Pope ANY DAY NOW. *taps foot*)
Anyhoo, I picked the winner for last months giveaway last night and the winner was...
Congrats, Nori!!!!! I'll have these in the mail to you this week. HAPPY BEADING WITH THEM!!!! :) **** Back to Articles |
